Amana Capital Limited has been licensed and regulated by the Capital Markets Authority as a Fund Manager since 2003 and by the Retirement Benefits Authority since 2004. We manage pensions and investments on behalf of institutions and individuals and offer unit trust products designed for the investor of moderate means.

 

All the assets under our management are kept under a safe custody arrangement by a custodian bank licenced as such by the CMA. In this way, in the unlikely event that Amana Capital was to go out of business, all our client assets are safe. There is absolutely no co-mingling of our own funds with the funds that we manage.

Our History

Amana Capital Limited was incorporated on 6 April 2003 as Royal Investment Management Services Limited. The Capital Markets Authority first licensed the Company as a Fund Manager in September 2003. We have remained a licencee of the CMA since then.


In November 2004, Amana Capital was also registered with the Retirement Benefits Authority as a manager of retirement benefit schemes and has remained a licencee of the RBA since then.

Towards the close of 2005, the company re-branded to Amana Capital Limited, in recognition of the need to re-position the company appropriately.

 

Board of Directors

Amana Capital Limited is committed to good corporate governance, which assures our clients, shareholders, regulators and other stakeholders that the company’s business is being conducted in compliance with local laws and regulations and following international best practice.
Graham Shaw:
Chairman

Graham provides oversight to Amana Capital’s financial management including chairing the company’s audit & compliance committee. Graham is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales and is the Group Managing Director of Wilken Africa Limited. He is an entrepreneur and previously worked with the audit firm Price waterhouse Coopers.

Hardy Pemhiwa:
Co-Founder & Director

Hardy is responsible for team leadership, strategy and product development and has been with the firm since 2003. He has 20 years of investment management and investment banking experience and holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from University of London and Edinburgh Business School respectively.

Consolata Ndayisenga
Co-Founder & Director
Consolata has 18 years of executive management experience in marketing, public relations and customer service and is an entrepreneur. She is a CIM (UK) Diploma holder and a Chartered Marketer with senior management experience and has been with the firm since 2003.


Ms. Rose Osiemo:
Director

Rose is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Law from University of Nairobi. She has previously served as Company Secretary for the listed cement company Athi River Mining and in same capacity at Kenya Data Networks. Besides providing oversight to Amana Capital’s legal, compliance and regulatory affairs, Rose is also a law lecturer and a legal consultant.

Andrew Lopokoiyit:
Director

Andrew is a marketing, ICT and business process improvement professional. He is also an Executive Director of the Wilken Group of Companies and looks after the Group’s ICT, media and advertising interests. Andrew holds a Bachelors degree in Commerce from University of Nairobi and an MSc from the University of Salford in UK and previously worked as a business process improvement consultant at Price waterhouse Coopers.

Team

The Amana Capital Limited senior management team has between them 60 years of industry experience in investment management, client relationship management, banking and finance.This experience is brought to bear for the benefit of our clients.


Amos Mzenge :
General Manager

Amos is responsible for team leadership and strategy implementation in the firm. He has over 12 years’ local and international experience in Finance and Accounting and ERP Software implementation. He is a certified Public Accountant of Kenya and holds a Bachelors Degree in Finance from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

Benard Oyaro:
Assistant General Manager

Ben is  in charge of operations and has 11 years of operational experience in the fund management industry. Prior to joining Amana Capital he was last employed by York Life Investment Management in New York, USA. He graduated from Kean University with a BS and MS in Accounting.
